Founding member of TEP, Society of Polish Economists (currently sitting on its Board); member of the Forecasting Committee Poland 2000 Plus at the Polish Academy of Sciences; member of the Board of the Adam Smith Research Centre in Warsaw; member of the world Economic Freedom Network working under the auspices of the Fraser Institute, Vancouver, Canada; member of the Polish-American Lodge in Warsaw, member of ISNIE (International Society of New Institutional Economics).

Former lecturer and Vice-Rector of the OLYMPUS University in Warsaw (1995-2007); stipendee of NATO, Kosciuszko Foundation, IREX (USA), the Dekaban-Liddle Foundation (Poland-Scotland), as well as KörberStiftung (Germany);former member of the EACES (European Association for Comparative Economic Studies) & ISINI (International Society for Intercommunication of New Ideas), International Editorial Consultant to the Europe-Asia Studies (formerly The Soviet Studies, Glasgow);Alumnus and the first scholar-in-residence of the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies;a visiting professor(1991) at the School of European Studies, University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.

Currently teaches macroeconomics, introductory economics, small and medium-sized enterprise sector and issues of economic freedom. His recent research concentrates on theory and measurement of economic freedom, selected aspects of institutional economics and public sector – including good governance, and the SME sector. In 2013 he published a book entitled Economic Freedom. Measurement, Perception, and Institutional Change (in Polish).

Married to Irena Kondratowicz, two children: daughter Ewa and son Jan. His hobbies include listening to music and collecting vinyl LPs & CDs (jazz, rock & classical), as well as practicing sports (downhill skiing, swimming, tennis; formerly active in track & field). Travelled to more than fifty countries in the world.
